I thought people. here might find this story interesting.

It discusses the fate of the Italians who had been fighting alongside the
Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front after Italy switched sides refused to keep
fighting for Hitler were sent to camps,

Treated as traitors by the Nazis thousands were shot, worked or starved to
death in the camps.

Most Italians were captured by Germans in Italy and in
Yugoslavia and in Greece.

Italian Army on Eastern Front in Soviet Union was withdrawn
after the heavy losses of the Winter Soviet offensives.

They had not the POW status but rather a less protected one.
