Today's New York Times has reproduced its front page
of December 8, 1941 together with an article about
President FDR's famous "Date of Infamy" speech on
that date 73 years ago, when the President asked
Congress to declare war agains the Empire of Japan.
Congress obliged with a vote of 82-0 in the Senarte
and with only one dissenting vote in the House of
Representatives.
Those interested can see the article and FDR's
speech on this website:

The dissenting vote was Jeanette Rankin from Montana who also voted against the declaration of war in 1917.
